Are you aware of the thoughts that pass
through your mind? Or is your thinking just a habit, with you on autopilot? With
most people, their mind is like a child who accepts whatever it sees or hears
without judgment … and in doing so, they’ve lost their freedom.
Thoughts and ideas flood at us from the
media and the people around us, and we’re hit by about 60,000 a day. This barrage
influences the way we think, which means most people let the outside world shape
their inside experience.
You might think your thoughts stem from
you, but are they really yours? Maybe they’re coming from the outside and you have
unconsciously accepted them. Every time
you hear the phrases: “Rest in peace,” or, “Laid to rest” in regards to someone
who’s crossed over, and you don’t scoff at the phrases, they may take root a
little more each time.
The antidote is to deliberately attend
to every thought that enters your mind regarding the subject. This way, you
make your mind free rather than a slave to other people's opinions and thoughts.
Do not leave your mind open to the thoughts of others, but become aware of the
thoughts that enter your mind, and ask yourself, “Do I really believe that?” After
due reflection, either accept the thought into your belief system or reject it
as ‘other people’s opinions.’ You may be surprised to find out how many of your
thoughts come from the outside, so resolve to buy into only those thoughts you select, and reject those that ‘just
popped into my head’ from the outside.
The world out there is pretty screwed up
on the subject of what happens when we cross over and what the afterlife is
like, so train yourself to not accept every thought you encounter on the matter.
Arm yourself with a body of knowledge that works for you, and become the master
of your mind, not its slave. Do not let other people's opinions (including this
one) rule your world view … unless, of course, you consciously choose to.
Doing so will reduce the stress level
in your life, and increase your HQ, or Happiness Quotient.
